The Brazilian Tenor's (tenore lirico spinto) first teachers were Amin Feres (Founder of the Madrigalchoir Ouro Preto), Sergio Magnani (Graduate of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Rome Italy, musical accompaniment of Mario del Monaco, emigrated to Brazil in 1950) and Eliane Fagiol from Ouro Preto.
In 1996 he started his singing studies at the University of Music in Karlsruhe, Germany with Prof. Maria Venuti and was also a member of the Opera School in Karlsruhe. Iago intensified his singing talent from 1999 to 2004 with the Tenor Julius Best, Badisches Staatstheater, Karlsruhe. He perfected his studies with Nicolai Gedda, Hilde Zadek, Christa Ludwig and Franco Farina, amongst others.
Before becoming a member of the ensemble of soloists of the Staatstheater Oldenburg 2001 to 2003, he appeared in several festival productions. Guest Engagements have since led him to the National Theater Detmold, the People's Theatre in Rostock, Staatstheater Kassel, the Wuppertal Opera, the Staatstheater Mainz, the Mannheim National Theatre and the Opera Festival Heidenheim, amongst others. His repertoire includes Rodolfo ("La Bohème"), Turiddu ("Cavalleria Rusticana"), Duca ("Rigoletto"), Riccardo ("Un ballo in maschera") and Edgardo ("Lucia di Lammermoor"), and beyond that Don José ("Carmen"), Faust ("Faust"), Narraboth ("Salome") and Chateauneuf ("Tsar and Carpenter").
Since the season 2004/2005, the scholar of the Richard Wagner Society Karlsruhe, Germany was a permanent member of the Theater Magdeburg and his roles have included Rodolfo ("La Boheme"), Ferrando ("Cosi fan tutte"), Cavaradossi ("Tosca"), Lenski ("Eugene Onegin"), Nadir ("Les perles de pêcheurs"), Walther von der Vogelweide ("Tannhauser"), Nemorino ("L'elisir d'amore"), Grigori ("Boris Godunov"), Duca ("Rigoletto "), Calaf ("Turandot"), Samson ("Samson and Delilah"), Don José ("Carmen") and Edgardo ("Lucia di Lammermoor").
In the season 2010/2011/2012 he appeared as Pinkerton ("Madame Butterfly"), Alfredo Germont ("La Traviata"), Don Carlos ("Don Carlos"), Cavaradossi ("Tosca") Theater Plauen-Zwickau and as Werther in the opera of the same name, for which he recently was nominated as the best New Artist in the current critics' poll of the magazine "Opera World".
In the 2013/2014 season he held the main roles in the productions "Don Carlos" as Don Carlos, "Macbeth" as Macduff, "Rigoletto" as Il Duca di Mantova and in "Der Rosenkavalier" as the Italian Singer.
Since August 2014, Iago Ramos is pleased to welcome his audience as a freelance singer.
